What's Momentous?
Momentous is Social Minting. With Momentous you can mint all of life's great moments as well as follow and share in the moments of the people around you that you admire. Our platform allows you to mint Ethereum ERC-721 NFTs directly, for free. We utilize technology from ImmutableX and StarkWare that allows for gasless minting on Ethereum Layer 2.
What's an NFT?
An NFT is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, which can be sold and traded. The NFT can be associated with a particular digital or physical asset (such as a file or a physical object) and a license to use the asset for a specified purpose. NFTs (and the associated license to use, copy or display the underlying asset) can be traded and sold on digital markets.
NFTs function like crypto tokens, but, unlike crypto currencies like Bitcoin, NFTs are not mutually interchangeable, so not fungible. While all bitcoins are equal, each NFT may represent a different underlying asset and thus have a different value. NFTs are created when blockchains string records of cryptographic hash, a set of characters identifying a set of data, onto previous records therefore creating a chain of identifiable data blocks. This crypto transaction process ensures the authentication of each digital file by providing a digital signature that is used to track NFT ownership. However, data links that point to details like where the art is stored can die.
What's Social Minting?
Social Minting is the idea of minting all of life's great moments as Ethereum NFTs. This is as opposed to storing it on your own hard drive, cloud, or device. Because NFTs are permanent, there is no fear of losing these moments. And because the entire Ethereum ecosystem is open to everyone, you can share these moments with anyone. Making it a truly social experience that you own!
What's an nft drop?
Drops are a collection of NFTs that someone may put together. With Momentous you can drop many copies of the same piece of media for your friends, family, and fans to obtain.
How do I Mint?
Open the Momentous app and log in. Once logged in, use the bottom navigation bar to select "Mint" and then follow the steps on the screen. Once you are successfully minted, you will see your drop and associated NFTs.
How do I follow?
You can follow people by discovering them in the Discover tab or by searching for people. Once you find someone interesting, click on their profile and you will see a "Follow" button. Press the button and you will then be following them. Once you have followed someone you can claim their Drops and see their new content.
How do I share?
You can share your drops and NFTs by using the share icon in the top right and corner of the application. Press this icon to open up your apps native share screen and follow the instructions from there.
What can I do with the Native App?
The Momentous native application allows you to mint, follow, and share NFTs with your friends, family, and fans.
How do I report offensive content / Users?
Should you unfortunately run into offensive content or users, please fill out our form here and our team will investigate and take appropriate action after review.
How can I delete my Account?
Open the application and navigate to your profile page. We supply a delete button for you there. Note: when you mint something it then exists on the public Ethereum blockchain. We are able to remove all data associated with you and Momentous, but we have no control over data on the Ethereum blockchain. You may also fill out a form on our website here requesting a manual deletion of your account or data associated with your account.
